THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!!
Wow..... that is one cool effect......
I never heard of it at first, than I read this:
"EH Designer Howard Davis came up with the AMBITRON, a unit to synthesize a stereo effect from a mono input. It was available in at least 2 forms: the floor unit made for guitar use and a rackmount stereo unit for home stereo use. Howard says he designed the Ambitron to get a stereo effect from his mono jazz LPs. Good show, Howard!"
Now I want one!
Nice and interesting!
After looking at the cricuit for a while I noticed the following:
1) It has two SAD1024's with all their stages chained and no feedback. This can be readily replaced by an MN3008 or BL3208 at a much reduced cost.
2) It uses the classical NE570 compander for noise reduction--good.
3) The schem doesn't include the clock circuitry. You can see the PHI_1 and PHI_2 indications on the SAD's clock inputs only. My guess is that this clock should be somewhere between 20 kHz and 40 kHz. I don't think of a higher clock, because if short times were needed I don't see the purpose of using two expensive SAD's in series.
4) Interesting by itself is the "Stereo Separation Enhancement" part of the circuit, formed by the two opamps on the upper-left of the upper SAD. Take a look ate the proportions in which the L & R channels are mixed, PLUS the different capacitor values (frequency dependent), and plus the high frequency bleedtrhough 0.0012 uF cap where the (.4R-L) and (.4L-R) labels are. Certainly worth some simulation :icon_exclaim: :icon_wink:
Thanks.
Cool. Thanks a lot.
I have what may be a prototype circuit for what I think is called EH Quad Synthesiser, I havn't looked at it for a long time. I'll dig it out to see if it bears any resemblance to this one. I'm sure it's from Howard Davis though.

Thank you very much.

edit;
works? (http://forum.musikding.de/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0)
Zero, could you give me a clue as to what scanner settings you used for this one, my copy of the EH Quadriphonic (funny spelling!) Synth looks as if it has been reduced considerably, and in order to get a sensible file size for Photobucket the circuit is very difficult to read.
The clock driver is just a 4047 + 2 caps and a resistor!

This 1981 pricelist ( http://ampage.org/hammer/files/1981_E-H_pricelist.gif ) shows the Ambitron was selling for $185 on sale.

Curious schematic. Looks like there is no high filtering capacitor after the opamp. After C7 there is a 100k to 4.5V with a 1k in series, then another 100k to 4.5V, then C8 (22uF), then another 100k to ground. Â Looks like R8, R10 and C8 could be taken out of the circuit without impact.
Kusi,
works good now.
looks like another TS version ;)
thanx

My first thought when I looked at it was the quad opamp version of the Boss OD-1 without the static tone control.

I used an HP Scanjet 2200c
100dpi
256 levels of gray
Then some photoshop for improving contrast and scaling it down a bit.
:icon_eek: Wow. This Korg Synth is a beast!!! Who will be the first one to do a layout for it and build a clone? :P
This is the best I can do from a poor copy I have of the EH Quadriphonic Amp + Synthesiser. This is dated a few months prior to the Ambisonic, so most likely a prototype. Merry Christmas!

Zero,
Your hero statusis hereby confirmed. Thanks! I've been wanting to know what's in the X911 for 20 years.
Mark
Hey Z t H,
Thanks for posting that! Always thought that the X911 was a Korg Sigma with MS-03 pitch-voltage converter grafted on.. the MS-03 guess was right, but the Sigma part was not... just as well, since the Sigma uses eleven of the Korg 35 filter modules!
Cheers, Mike

Thank you!
Too bad, there are plenty of SAD 1024 in these circuits...

Who would like to volunteer to whittle that down to a mono version? :icon_mrgreen:

Still part 11 and 12 pending!
Thanks a lot for sharing those schems. Esp the EH-2 with fill service notes.
Do you have Boss PH-2 by chance?
Ihave to check at home but I think I have not this schematic.
There was a forum member that owned this schem and had to scan it (and dozen of unseen Boss service manuals) but I never seen it online!
Thanks for the tip. I PM'ed putrefusion (the guy who said he had the schem) to see what happens. On that search I also "discovered" bossarea.com--everything I always wanted to know! So far I'm looking for PH-2, DM-3 & PQ-4. Sorry for hijacking the thread... back to normal now. :icon_redface:
Look at the EH Minisynth circuit - there is the classic EH envelope generator around Q1, which drives a filter consisting of IC2 & 3 - a pair of CA3094s. All that is needed is a peak follower to energise the envelope generator and we probably have a half decent triggered filter!!

Still part 11 and 12 pending!
I've hunted around with the seach for about 5 minutes, and cannot find the first part!
I've found lots of other hot stuff, though, so, I'm not disappointed at that investment of my time!
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I've got the DM-3 schem, I _will_ eventually get around to tracing out the PQ-3B and PQ-4. :icon_confused:
Thanks for all the schems Zero, I feel almost guilty at only posting the OD-9 now! ;)
edit: Here's the URL, it's at GGG.

Thanks. If you ever como to trace those please PM me; let me know if there's a Boss schem you might be looking for to see if I have it.
Hey Zero,
Thanks for all the schems - best Xmas gift of all. Definitely on a par with the pack of Hobgoblin beer my son gave me!
Peter
Hey,
Just took another look at the X-911 schemos - it actually does use the "Korg-35" filters as used in the Sigma... except these ones are built with regular transistors and FETs on the main board (instead of tiny black SIP modules) - as shown on the KLM-228 schemo - used in the electric bass, tuba and trumpet presets
Like a Sigma with 13600 filter thrown in for good measure :D
Cheers, Mike

I did only one post and I changed the title of the topic! No need of searching the forum!!!
Thanks to everyone who appreciated this gift!I still have part 13 to post!
That's the last part of Xmas my gift. It was taken from an Italian magazine and I think that its still possible to order the ready to solder PCB.
