I just attempted this mod - pedal works but the volume is very low even when bypassed. What could be the problem?

I usmmoned the 8 Ball, it read: "This Problem may or may not be contained within the circled areas".
For a more tangible response, respond in kind to 'What to do when it doesn't work', near top of thread listing.
By filling in the blanks, [posting results of your test] you will be at the same time confirming or eliminating possible problems. Reading around and through FAQ eventually learned me how to interpret the readings.
I assume you've done a cursory or close in light w/magnifying lense [if you have it] inspection of the reworked areas, solder can 'jump' many traces from work area, without notice.
Thanks - Yes, I did inspect it quite closely. I was going to try putting the diode I jumpered back in, but I'll check out the FAQ's first.
Did you put a jumper where you removed C6? It doesn't need one, but I don't know if that could be an issue.
Where did you find that mod, is there a link?
A link would be great. I dont know the number since I dont have a SD-1 infront of me but the resistor that is next to the cap 2 spaces up from C3 can be changed to a 2k2 for more available gain. Replace all 3 diodes with 1n400X is another good start. Putting a germ in for the first diode is great. I love the SD-1 it is one of my favorite pedals to mod ;D
I can't remember where I found it, but I can e mail it to you if you'd like.

No, you actually do NOT want to jumper that. That will remove even more highs.
