Title: Help! CE-3 will not work with AC adapter
Post by: 6stringer on December 30, 2005, 12:08:28 PM
I've recently received a Boss CE-3 chorus pedal.  It works perfectly with a battery connected, but will not function via the A/C adapter.
I know the power supply is good and I can trace 9v to the board from the socket, after that I'm not sure where to look.
I have been unable to locate a schematic for this pedal.
Your help is most appreciated.

Make sure you're using the correct Boss adapter.  IIRC, the CE-2 & -3 both took the ACA (12v?) adapter.  If you have a Pedal Power 2 you can set it to be ACA vs. PSA...

Hope that helps,

Andy is exactl correct.  Some ACA pedals will not work with a PSA adapter I have even seen some that would work but would sound distorted.  That is where I would look.  Good Luck!

You guys are right on!   After your comments, I searched for info and found:  www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/articles/bossadapt.htm
It explains that a pedal requiring the ACA series powersupply (12v) may work when chained with other 9v (PSA series) pedals.
I had only check my CE-3 alone and not connected to the other pedals on my pedal board.  I connected it to the pedal chain, powered
by a Rocktron DC On Tap (model 006-2017) and it works perfectly!
Thanks so much for your timely responses and great advice.
