Title: Piezo Preamp
Post by: Finch on February 09, 2006, 12:20:56 PM
Anybody know how I could put together a preamp for piezo saddles on an electric?  Just to bring the signal up for traveling through the cable.  It'll be pluged into an acoustic preamp through about 20 ft. of cable.  Thanks!

I just built this one at the recommedation of Aron.

It works great. I mounted it in an Altoids case, and put a stick on belt clip on the back.
There are some photos in this thread.

That looks great!  Thanks!  I thought it might pretty much be a buffer.  Did you have to change the input resistor?  I guess I might with such a low signal coming into the pre.

For piezos, I would use this one instead: http://www.diyguitarist.com/PDF_Files/FET-PiezoPreamp.pdf
You can omit the gain switch once you've figured out if it should be high or low gain.  :icon_cool:
