Title: RAT in an electrical box...
Post by: mydementia on May 13, 2006, 07:00:31 PM
So I was wandering around Home Depot today when I happened upon the electrical section.  I found several nice stomper sized chassis so I bought a few.  I thought the small 'ceiling box' would be perfect for my recent vero Rat build (from this thread: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=39819.0).  The main thing I learned is:
Galvanized steel is a lot harder to work with than aluminum (duh!).  :icon_redface:
Anyway, I love the circuit - should have been my first distortion build!!  I followed the vero layout exactly (no subs).  In the same day I vero'd this one up, I did a Red Llama - need to wire that one up and take it for a spin.

Here are a few shots of my rat in an electrical junction box:

Junction boxes can be great, but the heavy duty ones are a PITA to drill out !!

Here's a couple of VERY heavy one's containing a boutique FF and my own Super drive
a two stage IC circuit with clean boost through to Rat type madness !

These one's came from a "boot sale" for £1 each and have a thick bottom plate too.
Dont ignore the better plastic junction boxes either, I've used a few plastic enclosures
with no "hum" at all ...... yet !!
