I bought a new (el-cheapo) engraving tool a few months ago and it came with 2 or 3 great little PCB drills.

That's one on the right. It only has about 4mm of twist, so it really does centre and punch through much better than regular ones.
The one on the left is the sort I've been using. The gold colour is some sort of hardening and this set is still sharp after several years!
So has anyone seen a supply of these stubby one's? Maybe someone has even seen some stubby one's that also have the gold hardening stuff on them...

I have a couple sets of Black and Decker bits that are "Titanium" and have that gold colored coating.
I can't imagine that the short twist bit has any advantage over another regular length bit, other than it's a bit (pun intended) stonger, or will flex less without the longer twisted length. (the twist is the weakest part of the bit.)

yep - that's why I like 'em. But perhaps I'm being a "little bit" crazy (pun intended). You can put more pressure on them and they centre better, then pop through the board in a split second.
