Title: Bretts "HIDROSIS" Fuzz/Dist pedal mp3
Post by: MartyMart on October 31, 2006, 05:23:37 AM

Recorded through Behringer UltraG cab sim, with Epi LP gtr into Logic Pro7.
Small amount of reverb/delay added.
Couple of tiny "pops" as I didn't watch the input level at all !!

Very nice!

I need to build one; tried it once and didn't get this kind of sound out of it; this sounds really nice

FAR OUT.  :icon_eek:
Luv that sound.
Your playing is much cleaner and more subtle than mine, and so is your amp, so I heard a new facet of this circuit.
thanks heaps

Thanks  :icon_redface:
I play fairly clean/simple - being mostly a "keyboard player" !!
I can't "shread" and my soloing sucks ! .... getting there slowly :D
Great sounding circuit Brett, that's just an amp sim for recording, it sounds
way better through my amps, probably has a touch more top end too.
This one is going in a box asap :D

Bernard:

Are you using this on bass? I know you play bass.

If yes, could I bother you for a few clips? Unfortunately, I don't have time to breadboard every circuit that comes along, but I might try this one based on your recommendation.

Also, just to enhance my understanding, and not to criticize or belittle Brett's design at all, but this looks to be just a TS-style circuit with an added gain stage in front, no? Well, there are other differences, no tone control, the DRIVE control is moved to before the clipping opamp stage...

Still, thoughts?

Thanks,

Well, I use it right now on guitar as my main fuzz unit......

I will try it on bass tomorrow; if I like it I will record some clips

Had no time to record; did play with it on bass and it sounded nice. I dunno if it was due to my new bass

I added a small mod (a la the Fuzztain soft / hard) and it sounds really nice
- switch the 2.2k (next to the 2.2 uF cap in the diode feedback loop) resistor with a 22k resistor
- switch the output 10k with a smaller value (I used 4.7k) to overcome the volume loss

Result: really nice soft fuzz

Thanks for the update. I may try to breadboard this one. Or, I may try to test my theory from earlier in this thread (that this is essentially an added gain stage before a TS-type circuit) by stacking a gain pedal in front of my Bassdrive.

So many ideas, so little time. I can manage to read this forum while at work, but pulling out a breadboard or soldering iron would probably get noticed.
