I designed a simple overdrive circuit that sounds cool but I but when I turn the volume control down it changes the EQ. This is probably because both the volume and EQ pots are connected to ground. How can I fix this? different value volume pot?
Oh, also I forgot to mention the volume on this thing is really high, I can hardly get the volume up past 9:00. Is there a way to bring down the overall volume so the pot has a nice even swing. THanks
I am not one of the smarter guys here, but I would try this stuff.
If you put a resistor from just before the effect output to ground, you effectively bleed off some of the signal which will make your pedal quieter. I'd start with about the same value as your volume pot and work from there.
If you wired the tone control like you would on a guitar, I believe that a higher resistance volume pot will lessen the extent to which the sound darkens when you turn down the volume.
If you post the schematic, we can help you more easily.
1. Use a treble bleed cap and/or a higher value pot.
2. Use an audio taper pot.
