Post by: big bustle on February 03, 2007, 10:59:42 PM
i've done some forum searching and read about this really cool octave up design called the cicada by brett robinson.

i've searched the forums and google and came up with nothing.

Hi
I changed ISPs a while back and lost track of a heap of stuff.
Here's the Cicada.  It's really the Rambler with a couple of improvements:
A JFET gain stage to help minimise the adverse effects of the diodes
A trimmer to balance and cancel out the fundamental.

I think the Cicada is good when compared with other simple octaves, but I wouldn't compare them with an Octavia.  I haven't built either Tim's or RG's "doubler" circuits.  They are reputed to be different again (smooth).
