Title: finished my muff fuzz!
Post by: sonic tooth on March 26, 2007, 10:07:12 AM
i took some 'scrap stuff' to make a stompbox
i finally decided to build a simple transistor muff fuzz...
i did not use a board!!!

i brought in changes: i used two old BC549, i replaced R2 (in JD Sleep drawing, thanksalot) with a
1M log pot, R3 and R4 with 150k, 100k log pot with a linear ('cos i didn't have a log!!!)
and i added an 1M resistor to ground for 3PDT+led bypass switching.
this is a pic, temporary hand-drawn:

it sounds good, it's a great bright booster too!!!
ps: BC549 pins are inverted to 2N5088

Congrats on you build.  I kind of like the hand drawn graphics.  It gives it personal charactor.  I used the transistor Muff Fuzz in the personal headphone amp I built.  I call it the Muffin Man.  It has different graphics on it now but it works great.  I also built an opamp version and combined it with the tranisistor version and put them in the same enclosure with a toggle to switch between the two.  I used the wide plastic cigarette case.

Another "boring evening" circuit...I like it, I built it using Paul Han%^&* vero layout, no mods...it has a good sound, I put in a couple of BC108b.

thats cool how you did it on no board..
is the schematic on this site somewhere? be keen to have a look at it.
is it a version of the big muff? sorry for the questions that are probably stupid . i'm pretty new :icon_redface:

The Muff Fuzz has two versions...OP amp and transistor. The Little Muff is basically Muff Fuzz in a Stomp-Box, according to http://www.big-muff.net/
And Double Muff is two MF, with a switch to use a single one or the two cascading in series...
