Title: Smokin' Rangemaster
Post by: Easywider on April 13, 2007, 01:45:22 AM
Working on my rangemaster clone this morning , resistor lead touched the metal clamp on the switch & then i see smoke , .......was it the resistor that fried , could this happen.....what else could it damage.....unsure , but still seems to work , of course the LED does not light , but that didn't emit before this problem , wondered if i could use a 4.7k resistor with a high brightness led for a replacement since i have 'em here  !

  I would test the smoked R, I don't remember burning a resistor @ 9v..
The LED should light with enough of a current resistance [4k7 I'd guess'd be ok with a SB LED].

I can't imagine you fried a resistor at 9V. My guess is you fried the LED (did you accidentally short out the current limiting resistor?). I've done that once. Come to think of it, it was actually on my Rangemaster clone...

Just replace the LED and it will probably work fine.

Thanks , will try swapping out the LED tomorrow !

Swapped out the LED & used the same resistor , lights up now , thanks ! :icon_lol:

Just have a few more issues & hopefully will be in business Tonite !
