Title: Night Train Overdrive
Post by: free electron on November 17, 2007, 07:07:56 AM
Hi!
Here's my development of the Arsenio Novos "Tube Sound Overdrive", a pair of NPN and PNP transistors that produce very nice overdrive sound, very responsive to picking. I was really impressed by this little circuit.
Project homepage (http://www.herby.kielce.pl/~piter/hexenew2/ie.php?c=twst_e&l=diy_e)
There's a pdf file with description, schem and pcb project.
Sound samples are recorded with PandoraPX4D as speaker simulator.
I like the idea of fixed 3 band tone stack to shape the sound a little bit. But of course it can be omitted, then the gain recovery stage will not be needed, it could be used as output buffer by taking out the R17,R18,C12,C13 and connecting the opamp out with its negative input. The PCB fits into a typical 1590B box.
