Title: 1n5239 substitute for amz mosfet boost?
Post by: nag hammadi on February 01, 2008, 10:20:25 PM
does anyone know of a sub for the 1n5239?  i have a bunch of other diodes....

can they  be combined to get other values like resistors can?

Any 9.1v Zener with .5W or better dissipation should do the trick.

Also -- the mosfet boost will operate without the diode.  It is just there to protect the mosfet.

You can put many things in there to protect the mosfet.

I have a shipload of 5.1V zeners and usually put two in a similar circuit back-to-back.

I have seen a schematic for a certain pedal which uses 1N4148s between gate and rail then gate and gound - not the best circuit design mind as it had the zener too.

LED's can be used as well.
