Hello to you distinguished person reading this,
So, when I have a battery on the clip in my mosfet booster, everything behaves as I expect: the switch lights up the led giving visual indication that the effect is on and goes out if I unplug the input. Now if I have both battery and dc jack, the switch still performs as expected but unplugging the input doesn't shut off the led. And if I only have the DC jack on, the switch doesn't do anything to the led, it's permanently on (switch does turn on/off the effect though, no problem there) It's no BIG deal, but I find it annoying anyhow.
Any clues ?

Did you use a stereo jack on the input? If not, then your ground would be connected all the time.
You should hook up both the negative from the battery and DC jack to the stereo gnd, then hook everything else up to the sleeve ground. That should give you the results you're looking for.

A stereo jack switches off the power by disconnecting the negative battery lead. The DC jack doesn't typically connect to the stereo input jack, so unplugging the input doesn't cut the power. Most commercial pedals are designed this way, so it's totally ok. If you want the power to disconnect when you unplug the input, you have to connect the ground lug on your DC jack to the ring of your input jack (same as the negative battery lead).
