Title: HELP... I need an 11mm PC-mount pot
Post by: Rodgre on July 23, 2008, 05:40:10 PM
I'm repairing an Ibanez practice amp at the moment and I ordered a replacement pot that is perfect in every way except for the fact that it has 4 lugs instead of the standard 3.

This is what I have:  http://bitechnologies.com/pdfs/p110.pdf (http://bitechnologies.com/pdfs/p110.pdf)

Does anyone know where I might find what I'm looking for? It's pretty specific as to how it needs to fit in the PC board and how it has to clear the front panel.

Smallbear has 9mm PC mount pots. http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=693 (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=693)
And the circuit diagram in thats PDF file only shows 3 contacts.
Perhaps the middle 2 are just the same as the middle lug on a standard pot?

Also, I recently had a similar problem with my Vox AD30VT. The Power attenuator pot failed.
It was a double ganged 100k Lin pot. I found one in Radio Shack (It was a Log pot, but oh well, still works fine). Although I had to cut off the lugs to make it fit the hole in the panel, it fit fine. I just soldered component leads in the pots holes to act as the tabs.

Thanks. I was really hoping that I could find an exact replacement and not have to do any modifications. For some reason I can't repair the original pot, which I've disassembled and cleaned, reassembled.... no change. I'll have to make sure there are no bad solder joints or cracked traces on the board as well. The original pot only worked when you really pushed on it.

I'd think that someone would offer those pc-mount (with the brackets that reinforce it) pots with three standard lugs...
