Hello,
one of my next Projects will be a TS808 Clone.
In fact that i dont need a Buffer before or after one of my effects, i think of leaving that parts off the TS.
Will the TS sound anymore like a TS or will it kill that TS808Sound?
anybody tried that?
bye !
Oliver
Jack Orman's Son of Screamer and the Barber Tone Pump are based on this idea and they both sound fantastic.

Hi,
Yes - the TubeReamer i heared the Soundfiles and was surprised from that good Sound..
I also thought of building one - so my decision is made :-)
thanx

I think the JRC4559 is used in the Barber tone pump, presumably because it has a high input impedance and low output impedance, eliminating the need for the buffers.
The output buffer can be a part of the sound. The stock ts output buffer is an EF using a 10k emitter R the buffer is after the vol control so the output R stays constant at different vol levels.
If one uses a 2 opamp TS type circuit the Vol control is after the last opamp. Whats different? With the vol at full there is no series R to the output jack, with the vol turned down there is series resistance.
Series resistance into the first tube of some tube amps can make a different in the sound. R.G.'s tech of the TS has a section about this.
If I was to build a two opamp TS I would try to use a 10K or less vol control.
FWIW I like a 100k vol pot on FF type circuit instead of the 500k
