Title: Anyone know what a "D" pot is?
Post by: mattpas on November 03, 2008, 02:30:35 PM
The MXR Distortion III has a D1M, D10k, and a W10k.
I know you can get a W10k for the tone like the Tubescreamers used but I never saw a D1M or a D10k.

"D" is a log taper similar to audio taper. You can replace the D's with audio taper with little difference in this application.

I thought so.
Thanks for the info.
On the W10k can I use a linear pot for that or should I stick with the W10k?

I would stick with the "W" taper. While you could use a linear the W has a better sweep on the edges.

This is great news.  I am repairing a DOD 670 (I think) flanger for a friend and thought the D was the "B" taper.  Thanks!
