Title: LED on my Crybaby works on battery power but not on AC...?
Post by: pickngrin on February 07, 2009, 09:42:54 AM
I just bought a new 1 Spot to power my pedals. Now the LED I had added to my Crybaby wah no longer works *unless* a 9V battery is connected. The effect itself works on AC power. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Do you have or can you take a pic of the inside?  ;)

Did you accidentally wire the LED + to the batt snap lug on the 9V jack?  This lug gets shorted out when an AC plug is plugged in.

I'm not sure how clear this will be, but here are 2 pictures. One lead goes to ground and the other goes to the middle lug on the 3rd pole of the switch. The 9volt battery connector is wired directly to the DC adapter jack.

Looks like you've got the Anode connected to ground!!

Bit hard to make out from the pics mate, but if you follow this diagram, It should sort it!

Thanks. The anode is wired to the middle lug on the third pole of the switch. I had a bit of difficulty following that diagram.

But what is the cathode wired to?  If it's wired to the center lug on the 9v jack, it won't get power when an adaptor is plugged in.  The jack is designed to cut off the battery connection when an adapter is plugged in.  It needs to be connected to the outer lug on the 9v jack.

The more i look at the photos the more i get confused!  :-\
One of them defo looks like its grounded by the pot casing, But,, it looks like the one with the resistor!!!!! See the solder on the pot?
