Title: MKII debug/voltage questions
Post by: LedHead on May 25, 2009, 09:39:54 PM
I recently completed a MKII Tonebender clone using this layout ( http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=71945.0) but I'm haveing some issues.  It works, decent amount of volume, fuzz levels seem right and actually good sounding for the first few seconds, but the tone is quite gated.  The notes abruptly fizzle out, and it's even worse when you roll off the volume on the guitar some.  I've played a real MKII and a D*A*M MKII before so I know this isn't quite right. :icon_lol:

I used OC75s which I tested for gain and leakage.  Gains were 72, 78, 95.  Leakage was under 150uA for all 3, Q2 was only 84uA.  I've tried about a dozen other OC75s I have laying around as well with the same result.  Built 2 boards, been over them a dozen times for solder bridges, cold solder joints, bad trace cuts, etc... nothing.

These are my voltages

Q1
C 7.58v
B 0.05v
E 0v

Q2
C 0.10v
B 0.11v
E 0v

Q3
C 6.98v
B 0.10v
E .07v

Q2's collector voltage is what I figured was the problem but I have no clue how to fix it.  Most people report .4v or higher.  Thanks!

What is the resistance between Q2C and power supply?
What is the voltage of the power supply ?

Resistance is 47k and the battery measures 9.3v.
