Title: Help finding EagleCad parts and libraries
Post by: lofie on January 11, 2010, 04:00:57 PM
I have been using EagleCad with gaussmarkov's library for a while now, though I have never created my own part/library. Where can I look for parts that are not included in gaussmarkov's libraries? I am mostly interested in the PCB mounted pots that are sold through SmallBear:

If these libraries are not readily available should I venture into creating new parts on Eagle using a components data sheet? Does anyone have any advice or information on creating libraries? Thanks

Hi!

Day when you will have to draw some part will come soon or later anyway ;), so if you are not able to simply google up desired library, find some on-line tutorial (http://www.google.com/search?q=eagle+library+tutorial) and learn how to draw yours. It takes some time to get into it, but it gives you great freedom once you master it.

Good luck, T.

is there a easy way to upload something here?  if so i can post a .lbr.  i made a simple edit on one of gaussmarkovs libraries to use right angle pcb mount pots.  i used the smaller right angle pots, but those will obviously work the same.  there's a tiny amount of wiggle room on the fit - it can probably be made 1mm smaller or so...

learning how to draw them is really useful, though...
