Title: Faking / Modding Pot
Post by: bjk5959 on March 03, 2010, 12:46:42 AM
So I've got a pot that I want to customize.  It's actually wired in as a 100k linear variable resistor right now.  Here's what I want:  ~55k audio taper (tried using about 85% taper).  I've spent the last couple hours trying to achieve this with no luck and a lot of frustration.  I've been using the EMH calculator for tapered pots with no luck: http://www.diystompboxes.com/analogalchemy/emh/emh.html? (http://www.diystompboxes.com/analogalchemy/emh/emh.html?)

I just started looking into pot customizing, and have another question I didn't find:  is there a way to make it so that the pot will range from 1k to 55k in an audio taper?  So it wouldn't quite run wide open?

Also, this pot needs to be reverse wired (ccw=lowest resistance cw=highest resistance)

So to summarize

Have:  100k linear in reverse rotation

Want:  55k audio w/ minimum resistance of 1k in reverse rotation

Is this possible?

Yep, search for thread about bridging pot with resistors
