Title: Rocket Fuzz Question
Post by: akc1973 on April 11, 2010, 10:37:33 PM
Hi folks,
just finished a Rocket fuzz based on the schematic in the "Schematics" section and my own vero layout. Worked first time and am happy with it. However I was curious to know about the adjustment of the trimmer (I used a 10k one) According to the schematic notes, it should be adjusted till the bias is "optimized" and the "sound snaps into focus". Is there an obvious "Sweet spot"? As altering the bias trimmer on my unit has quite a subtle effect.

BTW, I used BC546Cs (hfe of all 3 around 400) and I didn't wire in the the "Drive" pot.All other components are as per the schematic.

Any comments welcome.  :)

Does yours have any hiss?
The Rocket was one of my first builds and I loved the tone, I just couldnt get rid of the hiss, and I re-built it again and still had the same amount of noise.
So I scrapped it and made something else from the parts.Mine had all 5088s and sounded sweet for Metal type music.

Brymus,
mine hisses a bit but I haven't boxed it up yet. How did you find adjusting the trimmer?
