Title: Will "Thor" (runoffgrove) run on 9V batteries?
Post by: pd3 on June 11, 2010, 12:24:07 PM
Hey there.  I'm pretty much ready to pull the trigger on the Thor pedal.  What I hadn't considered is whether a 9V battery (or two in parrallel) will provide enough current to ru n this pedal.  Where its main gain components are 4 Fets,  I'm thinking (or hoping!) that this pedal will power up on battery power.   I'd be happy to hear from you about this "little oversight!".
Thank for your time!

Phil

Yeah should be fine for a while... not sure how long it'll last on battery but it will work.

Why wouldn't it run off a 9v battery?  I don't think it's current requirements are any different than any other pedal.  It has far fewer components in it than your average Boss or Ibanez distortion.

Thank for the replies.  I had a feeling it would be fine, just got a little concerned when realizing I hadn't thought about it.  Well, then that little horizontal battery compartment should be fine in the "BB" enclosure. Now, time to find a nice way to make the rectagular opening for it.  I was thinking using the wafer cutting wheels with the Dremel.

Thanks,
Phil

build on ones.
it works fine with a 9 V battery. i think it gets more headroom and becomes just a bit "MORE" on 12 Volt. never tried it with more voltage though.
