Title: VTL5C4 for Ugly Face. Connections?
Post by: H5N1 on September 24, 2010, 04:16:44 AM
I'm building a couple of UglyFace trems, and one of the components is a VTL5C4.  The LED end is clearly marked with a pos/neg connection, but the other end of the component is not marked.  I'm looking for some advice about where this device should be hooked up on the unmarked end.  Thanks, -h

UglyFace trem? You mean tremolo effect? I hope that is a typo because if you expect a tremolo effect you're going to be surprised :icon_mrgreen:.

The other end of the VTL5C4 is a light dependent resistor (LDR). As the name suggests it is a resistor that changes resistance when light shines on it. That's why there is also an LED in there. Unlike the LED it is symmetrical meaning that there is now preferential way of connecting it, just like a normal resistor.
