Title: Rehousing a Tubescreamer; Seeking advice on replacement footswitches & pots.
Post by: kimelopidaer on January 25, 2011, 05:41:49 PM
Hello Everyone.
I am getting ready to place a parts order and I need advice.
I am rehousing my Ibanez TS-5 soundtank.
The footswitch is failing to engage about 75% of the time, although i know heart of the problem is the weardown on the plastic 'plunger' style trigger that actually touches this tiny tactile switch:

I plan to replace the pcb mounted footswitch and trimpots, as well as the in/out jacks and dc power supply, and wire it all into a nice metal box.

My questions, for any who may offer a suggestion:

- Would I refer to the type of switch on a TS5 as "momentary latching"?
The small bear link shows a photo for reference. There are four posts on the switch connected to the pcb.

- I'd like to replace it with a good quality metal momentary (on/on) footswitch. Am I on the right track here?
I am confused whether this should be SPDT, DPST or DPDT. If any could offer an explanation I would be grateful.

- I'd like to know the pot values for Level, Tone and Distortion. Is this information readily available?

Many thanks to readers who have been patient whilst I educate myself about electronics.
K

the pot values should be printed on the existing pots, probably on the back of them.
