I'm looking into modding my Flanger Hoax pedal for an external foot controller on the Modulation rate control as I have done on my Stereo Polyphase. Opening this beast up revealed a dual ganged pot. From my measurements it looks like about 1Mohm (in circuit; I'm too lazy to take it out until I decide to dive in). It also seems that both sides are wired as rheostats. One side seems to be going to the good ole LM324 while the other goes to a via on the board that I haven't traced further. This has me curious exactly what this pot is doing in the circuit. Is there any harm in using a single ganged 1Mohm pot on the foot controller?
Thanks for any help or insight.
Dunno whatcha mean by "single ganged,
but the FH needs 2 electrically independant
identical (var.) resistors. - Yes: rheo...
(i.e.: 4 individual wires, none of`em on ground potential...)
You can go up to 10M to get over 3min. sweep...
If you reduce the series limiting R`s (now: 330R) to 22R,
it`ll speed up to 1kHz.
They need to be tracking as close as possible...
You may try to use matched LDRs...
Or: PWM-controlled R`s...
or: wait for next: "TON`s modZ"...
(to drive the Phaser & the Flangers independently, voltage controlled, externally... :icon_wink: )
