The article is nice but the only part I'm not sure about is where you say that the 3T switches don't cost more than a regular DPDT switch.  From my experience they are difficult to locate, even on Mouser, and they are 2 to 3 times the cost of a DPDT. 

I bought some on eBay, but wasn't thrilled with the quality. Have you found decent priced on-on-on switches at Mouser?

Excellent. i like the user friendlyness of the 'j' and 'k' type use of an (on on on)(low -med -high) cap switching. just wanted to add that the same setup also works with resistors, ie 3 different resistor values as in j, or 3 in parallel ,1 alone , or 3 in series as in k.

I'll mention that about resistors, since I had to do that once for a headphone volume control.
Yes, prices are up and stock is low. It may help to search for "on on on" .
