Title: Suggestions for this mod to a Maxon OD-880?
Post by: greeny23 on February 19, 2011, 04:26:40 PM
so heres the schem-

i am currently running a 22uF electrolytic cap and a 10k resistor as a feedback loop between R7 and R10 and it boosts and tightens the gain really nicely.

any other suggestions for this combination or other things to do to the pedal?

You could try a switch for a Si diode/LEDs combination, distortion opens up, becomes louder and crunchier! Also, if you want a bassier response, put a switch for C4, 47n/220n for example. A 68 - 100pF cap between lug 2 of Q2 and R10 - R11 point would roll off some high frecuencies (it will work in parallel with clipping diodes too). And if you want to work a little bit, try removing all IC's, installing sockets and trying different single op amps like TL071's, TL061's, TL081's, CA3140's, NE5534 (I think it's the single version of 5532) or a combination among them. Well, that's a start! You coud remove C6 and place a DPDT, with C6 at one side, and a external circuit for tone control, like a Baxandall, for example... but you'll have to make other PCB and place new pots for it (I would go for multiturn trimpots, the ones that have a 2mm screw).
