Might be moving back to a clean amp/pedals-for-dirt setup and the BSIAB II has been my go-to distortion pedal for the most part. I do find it greatly lacking in bass compared to the CM Plexitone and Dr. Boogey.
Anybody got a fix for it that they are happy with?
bypass the 120ohm resistor with something like 10uF capacitor. Eliminate the treble bleed cap in parallel with 470k resistor. You will loose some gain, but get some bass back.
In the end, after all the mods I've done to the real BSIAB circuit, I've revamped it significantly with really 'small' sounding low end (maximum tightness in notes and chords), and then used controllable active bass boost, and controllable active treble cut.
I love it; I basically never tinker with distortion circuits anymore, it has the texture I'm aiming for every time I fire up my rig, after about ~15 years of only getting that sound in my mind and never from my gear!
