Title: Wind Tunnel (Noisemaker - Pleasant waste of time - Work in Progress)
Post by: sundgist on July 25, 2011, 04:21:56 PM
Some days I just feel like sitting down with something and just make noise. Bloops, blats, wheeeses, chichas, whooshes.
So I'm up to making a simple box with as many knobs and switches as is necessary to fulfil this need.

Knocked this up on my breadboard last night and spent till the early hours of the morning making noises.
Didn't get much sleep, woke up late for work and had to cram a days worth of mobile jobs into 6 hours just so I could get home and continue working on it.

Started off building Rick Holt's Wind Machine. http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=81602.0 (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=81602.0)
Added Rob H's Tiny Tremolo. http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=87322.0 (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=87322.0)
Didn't have an LDR that would react fast enough so borrowed the Jfet bit from this Negistor schem http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=79654.0 (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=79654.0)

There are some more bits I'm thinking of adding (lfo will fit in that bottom right corner) but for the moment......

.......dog still needs walking, have to get to the 24hr Tesco's and I'm starving, so I doubt noisemaking is on tonight.

So here's a couple of video clips and a vero layout.

Using the wind machine as source.

and a square wave from my function generator.

And lastly my vero layout which will be updated when I update it.

Enjoy, and to be continued...........

Awesome sounding.
Now make the two pots motion switches so you play it by tiliting your guitar.
That would be awesome on stage.

Very awesome... I have a couple circuits that I wanna try together like this... but I think I'm gonna have to build a pair of these into a box first. After I get done, I'm sure another night will be wasted playing with it, and running it through some unboxed circuits I have laying around (auditioning for "room mates"? lol).

Thanks, Rick. I lost an hour of time somewhere listening to Hawkwind. I'm pretty sure I've come across their stuff growing up, but now it's the "face to a name". Very cool stuff!
