Title: Boss OD-3 Problem
Post by: soupbone on August 22, 2011, 05:58:49 AM
I've got a Boss OD-3,and I can't figure out what frequency is causing the "Ice pick in the forehead highs" that you can't dial out.The BD-2 is the same way.Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated! Here's the schematic;http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schemview.php?id=2299

Just watched some demos on YT of the OD3 and it sounds pretty darn good. Definitely not hearing the icepick you're talking about... But, there is surely a cap or two you can tweak to lower the highs. Maybe if you dig up a schematic the smart people will help you out. Good luck :s

Oi... time to get that 2nd coffee. heh

Looks like lots of tone shaping around the 2 op amps before the tone control.

C16 - .012uf appears to be rolling off some highs.  Try .022uf or .047uf to roll them off some more.  ;)
