Title: How do you attach crammed pcb board to an enclosure?
Post by: lulu_joe13 on October 26, 2011, 10:36:47 AM
Hello all, I built a Road Rage Bipolar power supply and there is no place to drill for stand offs. Plus, I'm a bit afraid to drill my stuffed Gristleizer PCB, too. Do I need to worry about heat if I cover part of the bottom of the board with the super grip fasteners I get at Radio Shack? Should I use a little Kapton tape on the bottom of the boards first to ensure that the solder joints aren't in some conductive adhesive? Am I overly complicating this? Should I hot glue and forget about it? Thanks. Joe.

i wouldn't worry too much about things as long as everything is insulated properly

I'd maybe put some electrical tape on the bottom before using any glue/epoxy, just to make sure nothing shorts out to the enclosure - the glue/epoxy shouldn't be conductive unless it is advertised as such.

true...i use electrical tape most of the time.  it's easy and cheap for the few times i need it
