Title: Strymon SVpre - Tube preamp mod for Spider Valve
Post by: J0K3RX on March 25, 2012, 11:05:20 PM
Anybody have any experience with this? Schematics?  They have discontinued production.. A friend of mine was asking me about it and I thought it looked interesting... Not a Line 6 fan but the demos I have heard sound pretty good...

Wouldn't it be just the same to throw some sort of tube pedal in front of the amp rather than install it inside the amp?

Conceivably, but then you'd need to provide a suitable power supply and run cables.  This just seems like a handy idea.

Don't know why they discontinued it, though I suppose it is worth noting that just because a tube can fit inside a chassis, doesn't mean the heat generated is necessarily good whatever else is inside the chassis.
