what effect aside from the Bazz Fuss has the lowest parts count...or is there another with equal or less?

You can do a volume pedal with a pot.

Swap the diode for a resistor and you get a booster.
You can make an LM386 based fuzz with less parts.

Search around for "Alembic Stratoblaster".  Really simple Fet boost, nice sounding too!

Try ones from a few hundred k to a couple of Meg.
