Title: Fuzz Factory hfe?
Post by: nascarbean_97 on November 04, 2012, 01:31:26 AM
I feel like this has been asked many times before, but google isn't being my friend right now.

So I'm building a fuzz factory for a friend, and it works great and fine... with no oscillations.

Every knob does what it should, except for the stab knob and the highest part of the drive knob. (squeal)

The trannies I used were about 20 hfe lower than the ones I used in my own fuzz factory, 30-ish instead of 50-ish.

Should I pick up a pair of higher hfe germaniums? I'd have already debugged, but each knob does what it should...

I would recommend that you use a high possible.

50 is already on the low side so yes, 30 probably a bit low to function normally???

Fuzz Face hfe ranges (70 to 120) work well....and if I remember correctly, I made Q3 a bit higher than Q2, like a Face
