Title: BOSS pedals true bypass - easy and cheap
Post by: Renegadrian on September 08, 2017, 07:47:56 PM
I know this topic has been around for years, but I didn't find someone using these switches...

I had this friend's TR-2 and he asked me to true bypass it. he didn't want a permanent and look changing mod (no regular footswitch coming out of the pedal top) so I tried to put a mini dpdt on a piece of perfboard at the original switch place - top part back on and it clicks perfectly! needless to say you just have to rewire the pedal accordingly, getting rid of those switching transistors, put a simple millenium inside and voila' a stock looking true bypass boss pedal!!!
easy and cheap!!!

If there is room, couldyou have both the momentary and DPDT actuated by the treadle?  The momentary would still actuate the flip-flop, in order to make use of the status LED, without doing anything to the switching FETs, but the micro DPDT would bypass the signal.

In order to simplify things, I just left the original switching part off. so the LED is directly connected to the small millenium 2 board.
