Title: Building 10x ToneBenders w/ all Tungsram AC125
Post by: buildafriend on December 28, 2017, 02:43:35 PM
Hey folks,

Boards came in from China yesterday for my ToneBender clones. the first prototype works great  :icon_cool:

I used all Tungsram AC125 transistors with an hfe close to 75.

What order of hfe have you found preferable for your builds? I'm doing my transistor matching now and I figured I'de swing by this forum to see what you guys prefer. I mean from low gain in q1 to highest gain in q3, all matched, highest to lowest.. what do you like vs what is "proper.."

Consensus on this forum (you can search it) seems to be around 60-70, 60-70, 100-120 for 1,2,&3
Double check this though: the leakiest in Q1?

Thanks for the reply!

I ended up populating them all while I wait for a few pots in the mail.

I did about 60-80 for q1, 85-95 for q2, and 100-105 for q3.

I didn't check the leakage on q1, how important is it? I could always back them out and replace them with ones with lower leakage...  I would need to know what range of leakage people aim for. My tests are done with the atlas DCA 55 and I have about 200 more AC125s.
