Title: Scored a bunch of TG308's...
Post by: mordechai on January 17, 2019, 11:53:55 PM
And I know absolutely NOTHING about these devices.  Tested them and almost all of them see to be in Fuzz Face or even Tonebender gain ranges (70-130Hfe).  But most are very, very low leakage, which I guess wouldn't make them suitable for the latter.

Any suggestions on what these would be good for?  What are their tonal characteristics?  Have they been used in circuits I've probably heard before?

TG308, or GT308????

Pictures perhaps?

If GT308, they're keepers. I've had very good results with GT308, as well as 1T308 (which I think is the military version, so tighter tolerances).

Excellent in Q2 slot of FF, or Q3 of Tonebender type circuits.

Russian transistors tend to have a woolier tone than the AC's, while the Japanese SA/SB variants tend to accentuate upper frequencies. These should give you a good bark.

No, bot GT's...TG's.  Looks like they might be made by Texas Instruments.  Does this part number ring a bell??
