Title: WTB: Power and Output Transformers for DIY Hiwatt 504?
Post by: divanorosso on June 27, 2019, 02:52:46 PM
Ok people, here we are. After a long time I decided to build an Hiwatt.
Turning the web I discovered that there was a good builder (Heyboer) but unfortunately he closed.
I would like to build this (https://hiwatt.org/Schematics/DR504OL.gif).
So the trivial question is: did any of you recently build a 504 clone?
Can you suggest where to buy the 2 transformers?
Preferably in Europe.
Thanks a lot.

I just bought a 1974 Hiwatt DR103 for dirt cheap that needed an output transformer, so have recently done some research in this area.

If you're not going to wait on a good deal for a Partridge transformer then Heyboer is definitely the way to go.

What information do you have that led you to believe Heyboer is no longer producing transformers? Their site is still up and as far as I know the Mojotone branded transformers are produced by Heyboer (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!).

Are you sure that Heyboer website is still up?
Google chrome says "The page does not work. www.web-slingers.com has redirected you too many times"

However, excellent information about Mojotone.

I've also heard the Mojo are made by Heyboer, and they've got a good reputation from hiwatt builders. I believe I've also read the Trinity Triwatt transformers are replicas, even though the amp is spec'd for 6V6 or KT66's, they would work in a 50W 504. I think I read that, anyway.

Yep! I'm definitely able to get to the site consistently. And not just from computers where it is cached.

I would just go through MojoTone if you're interested in taking that route. The Heyboer website actually directs you to MojoTone for in-stock audio transformers. It states, "Contact Mojo Tone for in-stock Heyboer audio transformers. Dealer pricing available."
