Been working on something new for a few days. Wanted to try a tube-based pedal...
So ended up going with a 2 stage Valve-Caster (VC 2.) with the extra "boost" mod.
Everything except the power jack is PCB mounted. Laid out for a 1590XX.
I am to the point of doing the labeling, and cleanup... and I just have not been very "inspired" to come up with a name..
Ideas come to mind--
The tube/toob/Twob thing.. similarly the boob thing.
2 stages... like a rocket maybe?
and just found this thought funny.. Arnold Schwarzenegger saying something like "It's not a TOOBER!!"... OK. whatever.
Suggestions welcome please! I need something to inspire the artwork.

Most of the suggestions seem to be a bit far on the double entendre side. Almost like a Tuble Entendre :icon_mrgreen:
Apart from that, if I were building stuff with tubes, I would have long ago called something Harriet Tubeman. Or after one of the heart valves, like Pulmonary Valve or Coronary Sinus Valve or, even better, Semilunar Valve. Or just plain Heart Valve but I would imagine that that already exists, though I did not check.

Since we didn't seem to really zero in on a particular single name.... I chose "Double Trouble" as my choice.. it got 3 votes. Great because I am a huge SRV fan, and my sweetie is a Texan. It works. Everybody gets a sausage!!
I made the order to fabrication this morning.. started ordering parts. I should be ready to build out the prototype in a couple of weeks, and I will check back in on this project then!

I love it. For bonus points, use the UPC of an actual product. If it is a clone of a commercial pedal, find the UPC of that pedal. Or, pick an unusual or funny product. :icon_wink:

Any thoughts on the white PCB? I kind of like it.
Other than it requires you to clean the flux off after assembly or it does not look so nice... But, it makes for a really clean looking build I think.
Cleaning flux to make a white PCB look good is a pain. I suppose if I bought some real flux cleaner, it would be easier. I typically clean with a toothbrush and alcohol (isopropanol for the board and ethanol for me).

I use lacquer thinner and a toothbrush.. works real well. You just have to be careful not to scrub the bands off the resistors!
