Title: Little rebel amp bypass
Post by: whomeno on November 10, 2019, 07:25:52 PM
Hi Guys,
I am building some little rebel amps from the bought pcb V10.
What I would like to do is add a switch in to bypass the clipping diodes ( D1-D2) on the pcb for a cleaner sound.
I would use a dpdt (on/on) switch and  on one end I would add the 3mm led and the other end to bypass the led, How would I connect it to the pcb to do this? or can't it be done.
Thanks

one connection goes to each hole for d1

will this setup give a clean sound on the diode side?

clean-er, probably. louder as well it'll give three options: two different types of clipping due to the differences in forward voltage drop between leds and silicon or germanium diodes and center will be no clipping but louder. it may overdrive later stages

ok sounds good which diodes would you suggest? would I leave D2 empty?

yes d2 leave unfilled
whatever leds you have for the leds. for the other diodes whatever cheap silicon 1n4148/1n914 etc. you could also experiment with asymmetrical clipping for the silicon: two going one way, one going the other
