Title: Favorite overdriven opamp?
Post by: Fancy Lime on May 02, 2020, 04:27:22 PM
Hi all,

I like me the sound of a good opamp clipping, but never explored all that many options. I like the NJM2068, and NJM4456 (= high current version of 4558). I prefer the LM301 over the 308. I don't care for the OP07 at all.

I'm wondering what your favorites are.

Cheers,
Andy

I kind of obsessed over CA3031 for a while...

definitely the CA3160

but i don't think my opinion is the most useful, since it behaves quite nasty sometimes

i also love the sound of the BOSS BD2 style discrete opamp overdriving.

but my ultimate favourite is not an opamp, but a technique called wave folding
