Title: How does a pedal actually work? Let's get technical.

Hello everyone,,
Ok so I love pedals but I really have no experience with electronics of any sort. How does the sound go in one side and come out fuzzy or delayed or as a chorus and what's the difference between them?

Each pedal is different so each pedal has different circuit inside... there may be similarities across distortions, fuzzes, overdrives... also modulation effects have similarities...

choose one specific pedal then we can start there... :icon_biggrin:

Since you posted this in the DSP forum, I assume you're talking about digital effects, meaning algorithms. Unfortunately the algorithm for any specific pedal will be proprietary and hidden on the processing chip. The rest of the electronics will be basic A/D and D/A. You can look at DaFX for the basics of digital effects.

Is it possible you meant to post this in another forum? (Not digital signal processing).
