Title: XY Pad stutter
Post by: illafent on November 14, 2020, 03:32:17 PM
Anyone know how to make one of these?  Pretty much a Kaos pad but just the Stutter/glitch effect baked in.  controllable with the XY to control speed and maybe a filter?
thanks

This is a bit of a shameless plug because I am part of the company that makes them, but you could look at using a Trill Square (https://shop.bela.io/products/trill-square (https://shop.bela.io/products/trill-square)) connected to something like Bela, a Teensy or an Arduino via I2C and map the position of the touch to your parameters.

The DSP involved in a stutter *shouldn't be too complicated, but it all depends on what you are looking for.

^ wow! really cool stuff, happy you shared that, you have a new customer :)

QuoteStutter/glitch effect

The effect itself and the XY control don't have anything to do with each other. The XY pad is something cool like those Trill sensors, or a joystick, or touchscreen, etc. it just sends parameters to the µC pins it's attached to. It might as well be two pots; that's all it is, basically. Like a weird dual-gang pot. There are analog joysticks, they really are just like two pots. If you have an analog circuit that requires two controls adjusted with potentiometers, then bingo. Otherwise you need digital stuff. Do you have something in mind more than what you posted?
