Title: Boss style switching with J111? Will this work?
Post by: JP19 on February 08, 2021, 06:36:54 AM
I want to try 'boss style' switching on a 12v pedal. I don't know what the best option is here but I'm currently thinking about using a J111.

I'm just looking at the datasheet:

VGSoff is -3 to -10V, so If I'm biasing my audio to 6v this should work shouldn't it? Then I can stop the audio by pulling the gate down to ground.

I'm not totally sure what other numbers matter here? (datasheet screen shot attached)

Would the J111 work or should I be looking for something else?

Thanks!

J111 is listed as "analoge switch" in datsheets I looked at, so should be good to go. can't hurt to try.

J112 might be better.  The original 2SK30A's and the later 2SK118Y's used by Boss for the JFET switching had Vgs_off max of -5V.      (There was a instance where Vgs_off too small was a problem.  It's in one of the posts on this forum.)

I've had good luck with 2sk208 and j112 for switching

i too can confirm the J112 to be working as a switch.
