I'm trying to breadboard this thing. Can anyone tell me what M1 and M2 are?

They are usually modification connections. IIRC, you can wire an extra jack so a volume pedal with a 1M pot can wiggle the samplerate.

if i remember correctly, its where a vactrol would connect if you wanted to go with an LFO, just don't worry about it, and ignore them if you're doing an unmodded version of the circuit.
