Title: Rodent mod's
Post by: jeroen_verbeeck on October 10, 2004, 06:43:45 AM
Hi,

A few days ago I finished my Rodent,
at first it didn't work but I just fogot a wire.
The thing works fine.
But it could be better.

Can someone list all the mods that I can do to the GGG Rodent please.
Or if you have any ideas to improve this beast, feel free to list them.

One second minor thing is that the switch gives a clearly audible
"click" sound when turning on the effect.
How on earth can I get this to go away ?

Thanks in advance.
J.

to eliminate the popping sounds you can put a resistor (1M to 2M2) from the input (before the input cap) to ground

Look at other similar effects schematics, possibly you can graft some mods from them.
Here's a suggest...diodes, if you socket this section you can try alot of different diode configurations, alternatively you could use "saturation control' [AMZ] mods and try them out.
And one of my favorite 'mod'...add a booster of your liking to the front end.
I should first ask: " How could it be better?'.

Well, like it is now, it feels a bit "cold", to hollow sounding.
I would like it to be warmer, fuller tone.
And a second thing, maybe a bit more "crunch" instead of "fuzz"
Overal a bit more rounded out.
