Title: DOD 250 bass mods
Post by: seanm on February 12, 2005, 08:26:14 PM
I am trying to get better bass response from a DOD 250 reissue. I removed the 2 diodes and the associated cap to get a basic preamp. This makes testing the response easier since the distortion is not in the way.

If I put the gain at 12:00 and the level at 12:00 I will get distortion from the E string but the rest are fine. So the 4558 seems to be distorting at lower frequencies.

Any hints on what to tweak to fix this?

The new reissue yellow box use a KA4558. There are acutally quite a few small component changes in the reissue.

Never mind. It looks like the problem is actually the bass
