Title: Anyone have a 1.5 Henry (1500mH) wah type inductor?
Post by: analogmike on May 31, 2005, 02:30:19 PM
HI,

I got an acoustic 360 amp head (with fuzztone!) on ebay but the inductor in the Vari-Amp circuit is dead. It is a chocolate 03 wah type inductor but 1.5Henry instead of 500mH as in a wah. It is used to cut or boost the selected frequency, the vari amp selector selects between 5 capacitors to choose the frequency.

Anyone have one of these inductors, maybe a pullout from an old organ or something?

THANKS!

Why you doesn't build it??

There is a link to an "how to" in the description page. I think you can obtain what you want in this way.

Very cool!

But I doubt it could get up to 1.5H, and no time to work on my own stuff.  Have you ever seen the shoemaker's shoes?

Can we put 3 wah inductors in series? You know, I need this value as well for a midrange circuit I want.

Hi Mike,

... take a look at the Cinemag CM-2312 1.2Hy Pot core audio inductor - Pultek Eq. replacement ... you can add a 300mH coil in series to make it exactly 1.5Hy ...

http://www.cinemag.biz/inductors/inductors.html

... also, Mesa-Boogie uses some high value coils in some amps and Ampeg might also might have some old stock lying around if you know anybody working there ...

(I just saw Aron's post)

... adding three 500mH coils in series should work too ...

wah inductors are so overpriced.

Will ask Cinemag about it.

Doh- I tried 2 wah inductors but in PARALLEL, I was thinking capacitors... it did sound OK with 500mH or 250mH but the low range was weak.

Cinemag got back to me, they can make some 1.5H ones for about $20 each in low quantity. Anyone else want some?

What's the inductance of a typical single coil guitar pickup?  Would that be a workable substitution?

I have some 1H pulls from organs. They are Brown TDK in the 2 leg fasel looking package. Add a 500mh and you have your value. Free if you want to give it a try.

I've "converted" recently a Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Crybaby into a Clyde clone (see details here (http://pisotones.com/Articulos/CrybabyMOD/ClydeMcCoy/ClydeMcCoy.htm)) and look what I found when I measured the inductance of the original inductor:

 I suspect it's a defective unit... the JH wah sounded abysmally ugly

hmmm I guess all we need is this Mouser inductor?

42TL024

I believe I've used it before ... possibly in the Torres midrange kit.

I will get a few and try it out.

Thanks Puretube!

Wrong, I used another one for the midrange kit.
