Accidentally, this noise-reduction patent was filed 81 years ago
(same age as the late chip-inventor Kilby...)

You may want to try again - I've just downloaded it from pat2pdf...
I tried a different one:

Seems to hinge on the "nonlinear resistor" element. Could we focus and expand on that, please? I think he describes basically a lossy, easily-saturated transformer. I get the easily-saturated part (just go very light on the iron); how 'bout the lossy part, to attenuate what is essentially background noise for guitar use? An element such as this has obvious application in high-gain distortion pedals where noise comes very high on the list of things that constrain our designs. I find that using ceramic coupling capacitors tends to add a nice bit of lossiness and thus noise reduction, but I'd like to find something more profound. I don't know; inline diodes would sort of work, but they'd have to be presented with a signal where the "noise" is just below the forward-voltage threshold and the signal is just above it. What do you have in mind, Tube? Like maybe a wrapping of paper between the wires and the iron core to reduce the signal-tranfer efficiency?
these 2 files were actually just meant to show the pre-NE570 series
state of the art...
I still want to play with low-tech ideas, though! grumble grumble...
(little off-topic) :
AAHHH... BTW: did you happen to have missed the 8th post on this page:

Is your pedal a tribute to Ernie Isley too? :P I tried to contact him via his agent to give him a free pedal, but no reply yet...
Kinda hard to find names nobody else either has used or is planning on using, eh?
I noticed recently that MI Audio recently released a "Neo Fuzz", while PedalworX had already had a "Neo Drive" on the market for some time. As I recall, nobody on either side has had a problem about it.
He`ll get it next time the Bros play in our area,
or through our mutual friend Larry Graham,

Can I send one of my "Ernie" pedals to you to re-route to Ernie?? That would be awesome! (I'll pay the postage, and you can check it out yourself of course before sending it along...)
